Simulate. Educate. Elevate.
"Transforming learning Today to save lives Tomorrow."
Allen College is excited to share it's campaign to expand the simulation lab at McElroy Hall. This innovative space will provide students with hands-on, immersive learning experiences using state-of-the-art technology that mirrors real-world healthcare settings.
The expansion will enhance clinical training, foster collaboration, and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
Simulation Expansion Goals:
1. Create a larger and more realistic space for an interactive learning experience in a safe learning environment.
2. Create an inclusive space for students to improve their skills.
3. Provide a simulated learning environment that houses qualified faculty dedicated to providing immediate feedback to students.
"With the growth of simulation education in nursing, we've outgrown our space. This project will provide a more realistic, hands-on learning environment for us to train our future healthcare workforce. With the expansion, we'll be able to accommodate many more students and integrate a simulation experience that's proven to produce superior graduates."
Dr. Ashley Ollendieck, Allen College Simulation Coordinator and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator
Project Highlights:
The $3 million expansion will add more than 8,000 square feet to McElroy Hall on the south side of the facility, essentially quadrupling the current lab space. The addition will enhance simulated learning for Allen College students in both the nursing and health sciences programs.
Highlights include:
- 4 medical/surgical simulations rooms
- 4 clinic simulation rooms
- 5 new simulation debriefing rooms
- Nurses' station
- Home health suite
- Student study spaces
- Faculty office space
- Supply and medication room
- New main entrance and reception area
"This is a very exciting project for our team. Our country is facing a healthcare provider shortage, and this commitment to our nursing and nurse practitioner programs will help supply the next generation of caregivers."
